It's still in its original box, and perfectly preserved.
Now I have two #C64 wedge PSUs, both perfectly working.
The one on the right might be a slightly older model, but the specs are the same: 9V AC 1A and 5V DC 1.5A.
@codewiz I personally don’t like to use the wedge bricks. I have several. They give me the heebie jeebies. If Commodore didn’t pot everything into resin one could service them, but alas…
@root42 I bought a RetroPower PSU for the Amiga, thinking it also had the 9V AC output for Commodore 8-bit machines, but... nope 😞
If it can't be modded, I'm *not* buying another expensive variant of the RetroPower. Which PSU would you recommend?
@codewiz I know that there are differing opinions about them, but I only had positive experiences with PSUs from c64psu.com
They are based on regular Meanwell supplies and also provide the 9VAC. Yes, ripple is higher than on old, non switching power supplies, but in the years I have been using them I haven’t had issues yet. If you plan on using lots of expansions (REU etc) make sure to pick a beefier variant.
They also have variants to power both a C64 and a 1541-II at the same time.
