@janbeta @root42 I also had more than one C128s with broken 8502-s.

Remember, these are the same generation as wonky 264 series chips, like 7501/8501s and TEDs... But probably their potential problems are less well known - also, maybe more of these are in Europe, which probably means this info is less well spread in the global retro scene. But I'm just speculating here.

@tinspin @janbeta @chainq same with the 8501. But those had manufacturing issues so they die earlier.

@tinspin @chainq @root42 It doesn’t have anything to do with heat in this case, it seems. Probably something went wrong during production/design that makes these disintegrate more rapidly than the original 6510s.

@root42 @janbeta @chainq Do you know if certain dates are more prone than others? Maybe go back and look if you have a dead parts box?

@tinspin @janbeta @chainq I can only speak of 8501. it’s the R1 that are at danger. R4 seem to be fine. My last damaged 8500 was damaged probably by overvoltage. So no fault of its own
