Did you know you could mute links in blender ?
Muting a link does the same thing as cutting a link, without cutting it.
The difference is that you dont have to remember what nodes were disconnected to revert the changes !
By default, you can mute or unmute links with ctrl + alt + right click drag

While editing nodes (n) you can ctrl-mouseclick on a node to change the handle modes (akin to shift-y, shift-c etc).
